The
Asian Clean Fuels Association (ACFA) was
established in August 2000 as a non-profit organisation with its
office in Singapore. Its role is to promote and advance the use
of clean fuels in Asia that benefit the environment and meeting
the needs of modern automotive vehicle technology. The introduction
of Clean Fuels components such as MTBE, will result in the reduction
of common air pollutants, improve engine performance and enhance
energy security.
ACFA's members are amongst the largest organisations in the world
that are involved in the clean fuels business. We are fast gaining
stature and reputation in our quest to promote the use of clean
fuels. We are also an integral part of a network of similar organisations
around the world whose interest and ambition are largely convergent
with ours. Most of these organisations deal with cleaner burning
automotive fuels and collectively represent a seamless entity to
develop and promote the use of such products internationally. Most
Asian countries, like the rest in the world, are grappling with
the problem of deteriorating air quality and many countries have
taken concrete steps to address the matter and to develop options
to solve it. The use of cleaner burning fuels, blended with oxygenates
such as MTBE, is considered the most logical approach as it is cost
effective with immediate benefits and obviating the need to introduce
expensive technology.
