Clean air
through clean fuels

Our Organisation

Championing
cleaner fuels

ACFA was established in 2000 as a non-profit organisation dedicated to the responsible usage of ethers in automotive fuels that not only meet the needs of modern automotive vehicle technology, but also our most important stakeholder – our planet.

Vision & Mission

Clean air through clean fuels isn’t a slogan. It’s a belief. Cleaner fuels remains one of the most compelling answers to improving air quality, and this is what drives us to advance the responsible usage of ethers for cleaner, more efficient and sustainable automotive fuels to drive our planet.

Working with Us

Be part of a community that’s helping the world breathe easier.

We work closely with fuel policymakers, environmental NGOs, international standard bodies, regulators and fuel industry stakeholders to promote and advance the use of cleaner transport fuels. We count some of the most prominent, environmentally-motivated clean fuel companies in the world among our members. All our work is backed with sound, proven science, with the goal of cleaner, more cost efficient fuels that contribute to environmental sustainability.

Oxygen+ is a website created by Latin America Clean Fuels Association (ACELA), the Asian Clean Fuels Association (ACFA) and the Sustainable Fuels (former EFOA) – three regional industry associations representing the producers of the petrol-blending components known as fuel ethers. Our mission is to improve air quality and efficiency of fuels through the use of fuel ethers.

ACELA is a non-profit association that promotes high-octane, clean-blending components for gasoline. It works to promote and advance the use of cleaner transportation fuels based on principles of sound science, cost efficiency and sustainability.

As countries in Latin America enter a new phase in terms of both energy production and consumption, ACELA was recently formed to help educate regional stakeholders regarding the benefits of adopting policies that support clean and efficient fuels, as well as stricter air quality standards.

As such, ACELA supports policies that reflect international best practices, including the adoption of ultra-low sulfur fuels and the use of ethers as pollution-reducing oxygenates that enhance octane in gasoline.

Sustainable Fuels is dedicated to the responsible production, usage and promotion of clean, high quality, high-efficiency petrol components.

Sustainable Fuels bring together producers of MTBE | BIO-MTBE | BIO-ETBE | TAME | BIO-TAME | BIO-TAEE.

Sustainable Fuels supports and disseminates state-of-the art scientific research on the benefits and impact of fuel ethers on vehicle performance, health and the environment and advocates for science-based policymaking, through active cooperation with all stakeholders: regulators, legislators, industry, NGOs and the academic community.Sustainable Fuels also supports global activities to improve communication on the efficiency and cost effectiveness of transport.Sustainable Fuels currently comprises eight companies, which represent the majority of the EU ether production capacity.

Clean Air Asia is an international non-governmental organization leading the regional mission for better air quality, and healthier, more liveable cities throughout Asia. Our mission is to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in Asia. We empower governments and cities by inspiring action and focusing efforts on the planning and implementation of solutions at scale.  Our work focuses on implementing solutions that reduce air pollution, its detrimental health impacts and mitigate the climate crisis.

Since 2008, we have been a United Nations-recognized partnership comprised of more than 250 organizations in Asia and internationally, with six Country Networks (Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Vietnam). Our headquarters are in Manila, Philippines, and we have offices in Beijing, China, and New Delhi, India.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system, and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.

Our mission is to provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations.
